The Welsh Triple Harp

All four models of my triple harps are bespoke instruments, individually hand crafted by me.

The models are the Cleddau, the Gwaun, the Llangwm and the Solfach, all of which are the same style but of differing sizes with the range of music being determined by the number of strings on each model. The photograph shown is of the Gwaun Triple Harp.

Scrollwork, veneers, stains and decoration can be chosen according to the preference of each individual customer. Necks are made from multi-laminated beech veneers, supported by a brass channel. This produces a neck of unprecedented strength and durability.

The sound boxes are rounded with a laminated skin, with selected veneers to match the neck and column. Finest quality sitka spruce or western red cedar is hand picked to make the soundboards, thus producing a full and harmonious sound.

Various hardwoods are used for the column and cheek pieces. These are of the utmost quality to ensure the scrollwork has a clean and smooth appearance with a quality finish.

Each harp is strung with top quality gut strings, with selected tuning pins coloured to indicate the C and F notes for ease of tuning. Each harp is supplied with a tuning key.

Five coats of French polish are applied to all models to produce a superior finish.
